Why Can’t I Lose Weight?!

Not being able to lose weight is one of the most frustrating things, especially if you are trying hard and it is constantly on your mind. If you have read my story, you will already know that from the age 18 to 24, I was not able to successfully lose and keep weight off, no matter what I tried. I was working hard at the gym, I was counting calories and I was always looking for the next diet to try.
Back then, I really thought that weight loss was a simple equation of calories in versus calories out. I now know that is far from the truth. If it were that simple, then there wouldn’t be an epidemic going on with obesity.
There are multiple factors to consider when you are trying to lose weight, and everyone is going to be different. What works for one person, may not work for the other. Weight loss is multi-factorial and it ideally should be assessed through every lens. This is how I begin every program with my clients, using the whole life methodology.
It is the diet industry that makes us believe that losing weight is easy and if you just do this one thing…. then weight will just slide off you! That could be farther from the truth, and if it does, it means it won’t be sustainable anyway, so what’s the point?!
It is not our fault that we are brainwashed into thinking that a quick fix will equal long term weight loss.
